Built for clarity - no fluff, no vague “it depends”, no changing its mind mid-way through a response.
Includes a quantity of additional email queries p/mo (dependent on plan), reviewed by real CTOs.
Clear, actionable recommendations you can take straight to your team or board
For early-stage founders or lead developers who need guidance.
It gives you instant, structured answers to your technology questions - built from proven CTO playbooks and frameworks, shaped to the context of your query. It’s like having a CTO’s experience and reassurance on tap, without the hefty price tag.
You log in via your browser, ask a question, and the system pulls from a library of CTO-tested practices. It then shapes that knowledge into a clear, step-by-step response you can act on. For bigger or messier issues, you can escalate to a real CTO for tailored input.
No. AI is the engine that powers it, but the expertise that went into building it comes from real CTO experience. The platform has been trained on curated playbooks, templates, and frameworks drawn from 20+ years of startup and scale-up leadership, not scraped from an ever-shifting base of untested internet content. That means you get consistent, proven guidance, not ChatGPT-style improvisations.
You can ask questions in plain English, but it’s not a free-form chatbot. Instead of guesswork, it gives you structured, context-specific answers drawn from proven CTO playbooks for start-ups and scale-ups. That means you’ll still need to work through the steps it suggests, but that’s the point. It’s about making the right decisions - not quick guesses - so you avoid costly or damaging mistakes later.
The platfom delivers fast, consistent guidance by mapping your question to the right playbooks and frameworks. Human CTOs step in when interpretation, nuance, or strategy are needed - just send us an email from inside the platform with your query. Essentially you get speed for everyday problems, and expert oversight (delivered within one business day) for the bigger calls.
CTO In Your Pocket doesn’t write or correct code – it exists to make sure the rightcode gets written in the first place. If you have someone building for you, this acts as their safety net, not their replacement. Think of it as the CTO you wish you had – available to ask pertinent questions of, on demand.
You can already export outputs into JIRA, Notion, or decks. Slack and other integrations are coming soon.
Not at all. It’s built for non-technical founders as well as developers who are being asked to be more strategic. The whole point is to remove jargon, provide actionable frameworks, and give you confidence in your decisions. We wouldn’t recommend for anyone below senior developer level – our advice works best when you are already leading delivery.
This will help most if you’re pre-MVP to Seed and Series A. If you’re making technology decisions without any CTP support, it’s for you.
Those tools give generic answers and flip flop between advice threads, leaving you more confused than ever. CTO in Your Pocket is trained on real-world CTO experience with start-ups and scale-ups, backed by in-depth playbooks and human oversight.
It’s faster, more affordable, and always available. You get the benefit of CTO thinking without the £5k+ monthly retainer. If you outgrow the platform, we also offer fractional CTO support through Novidian.
We’ll let you know and suggest the best upgrade option. You’ll never be cut off mid-conversation.
No - but here’s why. CYP is designed to save you thousands in wasted time, rebuilds, and missed investor opportunities. To keep the service sustainable, we ask for a 6-month subscription commitment up front. Most users find the value far outweighs the cost within the first few weeks.
The minimum subscription is for six months. Thereafter you can pause or cancel anytime from your account dashboard.
No hidden costs. The only extras are optional standalone checks (e.g. Security Health Check) if you want them outside of your plan.
You can upgrade your plan within the initial 6-month subscription period, but you cannot downgrade.
We are currently manually onboarding all subscribers as part of a dedicated programme of client research and product development. Secure payment will be taken via Stripe during your onboarding. In the future, payment will be made direct via the website.
All data is stored securely in the UK. We do monitor usage of the platform, but to improve performance and its usefulness. Only authorised CTOs see your queries when you escalate them.
No. Your data is only used to answer your questions, never to train external models.
Yes. We operate under UK GDPR compliance standards. Sensitive inputs are filtered and handled with enterprise-grade security. Data deletion is available on request.
Yes. Investors increasingly expect founders to demonstrate technical governance. Using CYP shows you’re taking these decisions seriously, and, if you follow the advice given, will help you build a clear, robust scalable product story to take to them. Plus, our Security Due Diligence Check (available separately or as part of CYP Plus) can give you/investors further reassurance everything is on track.
Upcoming features include more built-in checks (e.g. fundraising readiness), deeper integrations (Slack, Notion), and expanded playbooks.
